Iovan Tsaous songs have a truly idiosyncratic character and resemble no other songs from the period in their melodic language, their subtle use of metre, and their use of intervals unusual in contemporary recordings.

„Vlamissa" (lover girl) is about conquering a beauty queen and is played in a zeykekiko rhythmic pattern of 9/4 (4/4 +5/4).

Originally a dance from Turkey for two armed people facing one another, it developed into an improvised dance for one individual „manga (swagger)“.
After the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1922, the dance became popular in mainland Greece, in many songs of Laiko music.
Due to the movements of the dancer, it is sometimes known as the „free eagle dance.
The improvised dance has no set steps, only certain figures and a circular movement.
